Saraminda: Black Desire in a Field of Gold

During the nineteenth century both Brazil and France claimed the territory between the rivers Oiapoque and Araguari, today the Brazilian state of Amapa. It is an immense region of unknown and mysterious forests, with waterfalls along great rivers that run south to the Amazon or east to the Atlantic Ocean. After gold was discovered in the legendary Calcoene River, prospectors, swindlers, heroes and drifters rushed to the region. That vacant wilderness came to be a bloody frontier of violence and passion where claims wealth and women were fought over. In that world lived Saraminda, who became an unquenchable thirst for the men who encountered her.
