Edith Nesbit (1958 - 1924) was an English poet and author known for her children's books. She is credited with writing over 60 books for children. Nesbit was co-founder of the Fabian Society, which later became the Labour Party. Nesbit wrote about the real world not a fantasyland. She invented the children's adventure story. The Story of the Treasure Seekers tells the story of the Bastable children and how they try to regain the family fortune with little success but a great deal of humor. Their adventures begin when they dig for treasure in the garden. The story is recommended for children grades 3 to 6.
