Studying Chaucer

Studying Chaucer provides a background to Chaucer's complete works which will be of great value to students making a concentrated study of any of the individual poems or tales. Few teachers, or examiners, would deny the advantages gained by students who are able to 'read around' their subject and to relate their set books to a wider context; but students faced with this task will know the problems confronting them. This Handbook offers guidance to the whole of Chaucer's output, which will help to identify those texts relevant to the set books, and to show how these relate to Chaucer's work as a whole.
