Meadowmeer: From Strawberry Fields to Fairways

The Meadowmeer Story is a story of people caring for one another. It’s about the land, the people, and the water, and of course a lot about the sport of golf. There are three threads to the story of Meadowmeer. First, Sam Clarke Sr., his story, and the events that brought him to gaze over those once strawberry-covered meadows one summer day in the mid-1960s. Second, the Koura family and Japanese berry farming on Bainbridge through the first half of the 20th century. And third, golf, public golf, along with the neighboring Meadowmeer community and the Bainbridge Athletic Club.
