This is the story of an old couple who were lonely and wanted a cat, so the man set off to look for one, but came home with hundreds and thousands and millions and billions and trillions of cats. The author-illustrator was the artist Wanda Gág (1893-1946), and her tale of cats, published in 1928, is now the oldest American picture book still in print - probably because the story is as fresh and funny as ever.
