The optimistic title describes the third in a series of books published by Collets with the subtitle "A Collection of Press Articles and Interviews". It is a translation of Sovetskiya Panorama 1989 published by Progress Publishers Moscow. It was printed in the USSR. The 1987 Soviet Scene covered glasnost, 1988 traced the effects of perestroika on the economy and the public debate. The editors of this volume covers the arts, economy, agriculture, social conditions, youth and other aspects of Soviet life in the years before the collapse of the Soviet Union.
