A world list of mammalian species

Extensively revised since the second edition of 1986, A World List of Mammalian Species is a complete, concise list of the living and recently extinct species of the entire world. Over 4300 species are listed, with scientific name, common name, distribution and frequently used synonyms. Endangered and threatened species are indicated, and an index of scientific and vernacular names allows rapid reference. Each family is illustrated with a pen and ink drawing by Ray Burrows. An authoritative reference work accessible to the layman and general zoologist, it will be useful to anyone with a general interest in mammals anywhere in the world.
