Thermodynamics (Pws Series in Engineering)

The goal of this new text is to help students develop a practical, systems-based understanding of thermodynamics. Organized around system types, the text introduces the Second Law of Thermodynamics (i.e. entropy) at the outset, and then integrates the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics in the study of all systems throughout the book. In presenting new topics, the author moves from the qualitative, concrete and familiar to the quantitative, abstract, and general, grounding the student in the real-world value of the material. The author also adopts a just in time approach, presenting new concepts when they are needed to deal with the topic at hand. The result is a text that helps students work their way to a true feel and mastery of thermodynamics principles.
