In Elephants Have the Right of Way, Dr. William D. Stewart fondly recalls a two-year stint in the late-1960's when he and his wife took their four small children to Uganda so he could teach at an African girls' school.  In doing so, the entire Stewart family was transported from a modern upstate New York college campus to the jungles of East Africa.  In this riveting book, Dr. Stewart recalls the journey of a lifetime to a place full of deadly snakes, wild animals, diseases without modern medicine, and a land where elephants literally did have the right of way on the roads.
