The Education of a Country Doctor

Dr. Pollock's years as a physician took him from the fishing lanes of Alaska to the wilds of Newfoundland, going through a stint at a Cincinnati hospital and a pilot tryout in California, which he flunked because they said he wasn't a fit flyer, something he went on to do regardless of their criticism for another forty years or so. This book contains predominantly stories related to his professional career, the more eccentric of his medical experiences, but there are also tempting tales of extracurriculum drinking, working at odd jobs, flying and being a friend of women of some very out of the way streets, like those of Halfway, Oregon.
