A Very Long War: The Families Who Waited

This is a superb account of the experiences of the families of men missing in the New Guinea islands during World War II. All Australian women and children were evacuated from the Territory of New Guinea to Australia and were cut off from news from there for three and a half years. It echoes the common condition of all people struggling to deal with trauma and loss.
