The Syrian Terrorist: An intelligence thriller

This book, described in the New York Times Book Review as "A Timely New Novel", tells a story about Western intelligence confronting Islamic terrorism. In the story, two experienced intelligence operatives have identified signs of suspicious activity. Their careful analysis indicates a terrorist cell is hidden somewhere in France, and it is planning an attack. The cell must be found, and stopped. Follow Anne Davis, a capable and strong-willed CIA counter-terrorism agent. She has been seconded to the French security services, to help France after the Charlie Hebdo and Bataclan attacks. Anne works with one of France's most experienced intelligence officers, Rene Sharen, a pragmatic man who appreciates Anne's skill and insight. Together they analyse the clues that enable them to identify what it is the terrorists may be planning. It appears to be a form of attack not seen before, intended to raise terror levels in the West. Anne develops a plan to counter the terrorists' plans, hoping to avoid the casualties likely to result if the attack occurs. As the terrorists flee France, after launching their attack, they are pursued by Anne and Rene. The Syrian national allied to ISIS, who is leading the terror cell, does not know Western intelligence, in the form of Anne Davis and Rene Sharen, is closing in on him. He will know soon. Expect some surprises as the attack unfolds, and the hunt and chase develop.
