All contributors have first-hand current Soviet experience. Adopts the approach of the new regional geography. Examines the USSR's transformed geographics as well as contemporary problems and their likely future course. Considers ways in which current regional geography of the Soviet Union contains the progress of reform and the extent to which the spatial dimensions of reform are changing the character and role of various regions.
