This book provides an introduction to the study of the nutrition of farm animals and is intended as a textbook for students at degree and diploma level, studying agriculture, agricultural science and veterinary medicine. Since the first edition of Animal Nutrition was published over 20 years ago, dramatically, and this forth edition takes into account recent developments in this vital aspect of animal production. As before, the book is split into four parts. The first part covers the chemical nature, digestion and metabolism of food, the second part is concerned with the evaluation of foods and feeding standards, while the third part deals with the nutritive value of foods. Finally, in the appendix, sixteen comprehensive tables set out the composition of foods and feeding standards for dairy and beef cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry.
