Optimal control of distributed parameter systems

This text builds on Butkovsky and Lions texts which were written in the late 1960s, and addresses more recent developments in optimal control of distributed parameter systems with controls appearing in the system coefficients, linear and nonlinear hyperbolic systems, general linear evolution equations amenable to semigroup approach, and nonlinear evolution equations on Banach space.
