Fundamental techniques of plastic surgery and their surgical applications

Plastic surgery, which originated through the efforts of a small specialist group to hide facial blemishes and correct visible deformities, was applied with great success during World War II for the treatment of wounds in general. The revised edition of this textbook of surgical techniques gives an account of various types of plastic surgery, describing those methods which the author has found work best in practice. He has included a descrption of the difficulties and complications which may occur together with how they can be avoided and how to cope with them when they do occur. Its approach is essentially practical, dealing with the choice of incision, stitchcraft, avoidance of ugly scars and methods of skin grafting, and their application to different types of surgery, notably casualty, burns and orthopaedics.
