Handbook of Racial/Ethnic Minority Counseling Research

This is the first book devoted exclusively to coun- seling research with the diverse racial/ethnic minor- ity populations residing in the U.S. It describes how to conduct culturally sensitive and meaningful research in an increasingly diverse multicultural, multiracial, and multilingual society and covers research needs, directions, ethical imperatives, mstrumentation, and both quantitative and qualita- tive methodologies. The reader is guided through the entire research process, identifying important multicultural topics for research, access- ing and collaborating with racial/ethnic minority communities, selecting the most appropriate methodologies, and interpreting research results with a high degree of cultural understanding and sensitivity. The book concludes with 12 specific directions for needed research in the multicultural counseling area
