If 1985 was the year when charity became an event, then with a bit of luck 1986 will be the year it became a process. Visual Air, whose proceeds will be used to fight hunger and homelessness, was inspired by the concerned musicians who came together in Band Aid and USA for Africa. With photographs by Annie Leibovits, Snowdon, Robert Mapplethorpe, David Bailey, Matthew Rolston, Sheila Metzner, Herb Ritts, Greg Gorman and Andy Warhol; subjects include Bruce Springsteen, Mel Gibson, Whoopi Goldberg, Molly Ringwald, David Bowie, Malcolm McLaren, Paul and Linda McCartney, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson, Elton John and George Michael, Sting, Bryan Ferry, Elvis Costello, Phil Collins, Bob Geldof, Sonia Braga, Philip Glass, Norman Mailer, Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall, Sam Shepard, Anjelica Huston, Mickey Rourke, and many many other icons of the 80s.
