Remembrance of Things Past, Volume 1: Swann's Way, Within A Budding Grove
Description:
In 1954, 32 years after Proust's death, the Plèiade edition was published in Paris. It restored passages previously omitted and made numerous significant changes throughout the seven books. In the late fifties, the last book was translated into English from the Plèiade edition by Andreas Mayor, who intended to revise the entire English text, but died before he could undertake the work. In these volumes, the French scholar Terence Kilmartin has completed the task, preserving as much as possible of the Scott Moncrieff translation.
