Essential mathematics, with applications

This text is designed for the one or two-term course on arithmetic and elementary algebra, including a new section on rounding whole numbers, more practice exercises and new "teaser" exercises at the end of each chapter. The work is intended to be flexible and meet the varying needs of students at this level. Chapters should allow quick review since they include pre-tests, post-tests, practice exercises and questions which are referenced to the section where that topic is discussed. The book also provides word problems from real-life situations and basic geometric measures.
