Youth O4: Young Voters, the Internet and Political Power
Description:
Political science research shows that if someone starts voting as a young adult, he or she is more likely to continue voting as a life-long matter. The challenge is to find a way to make politics exciting, even fun, for young people by engaging them in a way that they willingly take on the civic responsibility to learn about politics and to participate in the process. Youth04: Young Voters, the Internet, and Political Power answers that challenge by using issues to engage young voters in the 2004 election and harnessing the power of the Internet to mobilize them through youth04.org. The success of this nonpartisan effort will subsequently motivate politicians and the media to take the youth vote seriously.
