The Feleen Brand

In the early days of Texas, a larger-than-life character named Hush Feleen came out of the Tennessee mountains with his folks. At the time, Texas seemed like a wide, strange place to him, where he walked tall and spoke softly -- until they lynched his father. Back in the wild old days, a man could put his brand on any cow he saw, if he had the guts and a gun. Hush Feleen had both. He swore he'd burn the Feleen brand on every loose cow in the brasada and vowed that the whole damn country was going to bow to Hush Feleen.
