Squadron Airborne

"Through the fog, an aircraft took shape by degrees, its photograph slowly developed by the strengthening light. Its outline might have been the outline of any object with gaunt angles protruding, meaningless angles that had nothing to do with a tailplane, or an undercarriage, or a propeller. The machine looked no more likely to rise into the air than dead timber...." Yet it was a Spitfire, and SQUADRON AIRBORNE is the story of those painfully young men who fought the battle of Britain in them during the summer of 1940.
