Doug Lowell, Hollyowod director, has just completed the sequel to his earlier hit. When a film-studies professor and a gangster steal and threaten to destroy the final-cut negative, Lowell can't believe his luck: after spending millions of borrowed money on the film, he is convinced it is a flop.
