This book maps the current state of mental health service provision across Europe, taking account of the differing historical contexts influencing the development of services and the ways in which they are delivered. It identifies current and future epidemiological trends in the prevalence and incidence of mental health disorders, and in particular examines trends in the capacity and development of human resources for mental health care, including the supply of psychiatrists and psychologists, psychiatric nurses and other specialities including those outside the health care system. The book is aimed at a policy-making audience, but will also be suitable for a broader audience including professionals involved in the delivery of health and social care services, voluntary agericies, non-governmental organisations involved in promoting mental health care, and academics and students of international mental health policy.
