This book is the dramatic and largely unknown story of the rescue of more than two million Jews from Eastern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East since the Second World War. It reveals a vast covert intelligence-and-rescue network which led, argues Tad Szulc, to the birth of the state of Israel.
