A History of the United Nations, Volume 1: the Years of Western Domination, 1945-1955

This history of the United Nations offers a description of the establishment of the organization, the controversies and debates within the organization and the political factors surrounding these during the first ten years of its life. In attempting to recount the main disputes, it analyzes the effectiveness of the UN's actions in dealing with them. It considers the effect of the organization of Cold War conflict and how this in turn was effected by the growing number of Third World members. It is based on study of the UN's records.
