Pathways for Exceptional Children: School, Home, and Culture

This text takes an ecological, whole-environment approach toward teaching children with all aspects of exceptionality in order to optimize their development. A thorough text with coverage of gifted children, children at risk, and exceptional minority children and the special risks that affect them. The text uses research to challenge myths and stereotypes surrounding exceptional children, and asks students to discuss issues by placing themselves in the position of parents and teachers of exceptional children. Suggestions for teaching and helping families are offered, and family interaction is stressed.
