Poland Between the Wars, 1918-1939

Most of the six contributions are from an October 1997 conference in Stirling, England, organized by The Polish Society. They analyze such matters as Poland's historiography, her bitter dispute with Germany over the Upper Silesia early in the period, the sense of national identity and attitudes to ethnic minorities, the significance of her 1920 victory over the Red Army at Warsaw, the role of the press and its relationship with government, and the nature and extent of her defense preparations on the eve of World War II.
