State, Private Life and Political Change
Description:
The subject of this work is the interplay between everyday lives and "the state". It is one of four volumes of essays from the British Sociological Association Conference "Sociology and History" held at Edinburgh University in March 1988. All the contributors address the maintenance of unequal relationships between men and women and take the view that class and gender struggles are essential to an understanding of political change at the level of both the local and the central state.
