The Olympic: The Story of Seattle's Landmark Hotel Since 1924

The Olympic Hotel has been, and remains, a symbol both of Seattle's respect for its past and of its confidence in the future. Funded by thousands of citizens through a community bond drive, The Olympic has stood as a monument to the "Seattle Spirit" since 1924 - and remains a unique civic landmark in the entire Pacific Northwest. Fairmont Hotels and Resorts assumed responsibility for this civic treasure in 2003. The Olympic has joined a family of iconic properties including The Fairmont Empress in Victoria, The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, the Fairmont Banff Springs, The Fairmont San Francisco, and Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston.
This book was commissioned to chronicle, at least in summary, The Olympic's first 80 years and the role that it has played in the history of the city and in the lives of four generations of residents and countless visitors. By carefully documenting the many achievements, through time, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts hopes to honor the visionaries who came before us and to create a foundation for the work it will shoulder as the hotel's future unfolds.
