The Aviation Careers of Igor Sikorsky

Sikorsky's career as an active designer spanned half a century and included contributions to both Russian and American aviation.The year 1989 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Igor Sikorsky and the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the VS-300. For this occasion the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian prepared a special exhibition. As part of this celebration NASM produced this publication to address the major themes of his life through historical narrative, photographs and documentary materials.
