Gyotaku: The Art and Technique of the Japanese Fish Print

Gyotaku is a way the Japanese used to record their catch of the day. The fish is rubbed with ink and then an impression is printed on rice paper, definitive enough to see the scales, eyes and record the length as well as the type of fish. It becomes a work of art and is often displayed in the home. There are a couple of ways to do make the prints, via a paper mold and using several types of ink.
