The Islamic Movement in North Africa (Middle East Monograph Series)

Social scientist Francois Burgat's work was first published in France in 1988. He and Time correspondent William Dowell translated and updated the French version for the first edition of this book in 1993. Since then, Burgat has added an epilogue to bring the book up to the present and an index of names to help identify the valuable and original source materials from North Africa. Thus, the reader learns about the modern Islamic movement from the founders of the movement themselves.
