It includes fifteen of the twenty papers presented at the Washington meeting and also two papers subsequently submitted for publication, making a total of seventeen contributions. The remaining five papers, presented by Messrs. Briggs and Shantz, Carrier, Harper, Lipman, and Roberts, have been withdrawn, mostly for publication elsewhere.A new feature of this volume is the inclusion of portraits and brief bio graphical sketches Of M. A. Carleton and T. L. Lyon, respectively the first president and first secretary of this Society. NO index was prepared for volume one. Separate indices for both volumes are included in volume two.
