This edition represents a major revision of a textbook that has been a leader in its field since the first edition appeared in 1935. Approximately one half of the text cases have been replaced with current cases and considerable rewriting has been done to bring it up to date, to make it more readable, and to add new topics. Problem cases at the end of the chapters have also been replaced with recent cases. An entirely new chapter on employment law discusses not only the Labor Management Relations Act but the Civil Rights Act, OSHA, ERISA, and other important areas of government regulation of employment relations. Marvin F. Hill, Jr., of the University of Northern Illinois, contributed a major portion of the material in this chapter. Tort coverage has again been expanded.
