St. Edmund Hall: Almost Seven Hundred Years

This is a short, lively, and original history of one of Oxford's most interesting and ancient institutions. It tells how a student hospice, originating around 1290, developed over the centuries into one of Oxford's largest colleges. The various crises through which it passed, as well as the leading figures belonging to it and the pattern of student life at different times, are vividly described.
