The Field Director's Handbook: An Oxfam Manual for Development Workers

This Oxfam manual provides a broad outline of some of the main practical issues that confront development in the third world. The handbook is divided into eight parts. The first three sections cover major principles of development, crucial to all programs, and include an outline of procedures for putting basic principles into practice. The rest of the book--including sections on disaster, agriculture, and health--gives more detailed treatment of specific types of programs. At the end of each part is a checklist of questions which summarizes the issues that must be addressed before commencing any program. In addition, the editors have provided ample references to readily accessible sources of information.
