This book presents thirty-two readings that deal with oppressed groups in American history-groups that have been denied open participation in American social and political institutions, that are often victimized, and that are for the most part ignored in traditional histories. Selections are presented in their entirety, or with minimal editing; footnotes from original publications are eliminated. Half of the articles are new to this edition.
