These readings are intended ti stimulate student interest, expand communicative vocabulary, and enhance cultural knowledge. While the book focuses on reading as an active, problem-solving process, it also includes dynamic listening, speaking and writing exercises reflecting the philosophy that these skills are interrelated and improve comprehension. Grammar and vocabulary are controlled, but students are exposed to real language at different levels.
