This collection of arguments is organized around six essential argumentative issues that have dominated the national discourse in the U.S. for two centuries: the environment, national education, the propriety and reach of First Amendment freedoms, the extension of civil liberties, the responsibilities of individual citizens, and the nature and consequences of immigration and assimilation.
