After 15 years as a classroom teacher, she spent nine years as a school administrator in both the elementary and secondary panels. She was also a curriculum consultant and workshop presenter across North America. Susan is a recipient (2005) of the Award for Distinguished Contribution to Teaching from OISE, University of Toronto, a co-recipient of the Jennie Mitchell Celebrate Literacy Award from the International Reading Association and the Ontario Reading Association, and a two time Writer’s Award winner from the Federation of Women Teachers’ Association of Ontario. She is the author of All Write: A Teacher’s Guide to Writing (1987), co-author with Mindy Pollishuke of Creating the Child-centred Classroom (1990), and Creating the Dynamic Classroom: A Guidebook for Teachers, 1st (2005) and 2nd (2013) Editions, and co-author with Maxine Bone of Retelling, Relating, Reflecting, Beyond the 3 R’s (1995), and Beyond the 3 R’s: Retelling, Relating, Reflecting, 2nd Edition (in press). MINDY POLLISHUKEMindy is a former coordinator and instructor in the pre-service teacher education program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. After many years as an elementary classroom teacher, she took on the role of Generalist and Literacy Consultant for 15 years, and then became the first Project Leader for Support of Beginning Teachers in the Toronto District School Board. She also spent three years as a Course Director for York University’s Faculty of Education pre-service program. Mindy is a recipient of the Friends of the Faculty Award from York University’s Faculty of Education, a co-recipient of the Jennie Mitchell Celebrate Literacy Award from the International Reading Association and the Ontario Reading Association, and a Writer’s Award winner from the Federation of Women Teachers’ Association of Ontario. She is the co-author with Susan Schwartz of Creating the Child-centred Classroom (1995) and Creating the Dynamic Classroom: A Handbook for Teachers, 1st (2005) and 2nd (2013) Editions. KIM POLLISHUKE Kim is a Digital Literacy Resource Teacher (DLRT) for the York Region District School Board supporting teachers, administrators, and students. Kim taught for 12 years in the Junior/Intermediate divisions, and was also an Associate Teacher for teacher candidates at OISE/University of Toronto and York University. She enjoys working as an instructional leader for York University teaching a number of Additional Qualification courses. Kim is a Google for Education Certified Innovator, Trainer and Educator. In this role, she leads workshops around Ontario helping educators understand the power technology can have in giving a platform for student voice, connecting students to the wider global community, and ultimately creating confident, innovative, digital citizens for the 21st century.
