Description:

Lendon Smith, M. D., a practicing pediatrician and resident of Portland, Oregon, is better known throughout the U.S. as "The Children's Doctor." His nationwide ABC Television program, a five-minute show called "The Children's Doctor," has had an audience of over 4,000,000 mothers ever since its first appearance in April, 1967. The program's immediate success led to laudatory articles in Life, Time, The New York Times, and other national news media as well as to guest appearances for Dr. Smith on radio and TV programs.A graduate of University of Oregon Medical School, Dr. Smith has been in the practice of general pediatrics since 1951. he is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, University of Oregon Medical School; trustee, Mulinomah Country Medical Society; President, University of Oregon Medical School Alumni; and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In addition to an extremely busy practice which entails seeing up to 30 patients and making up to 50 phone calls a day, Dr. Smith addresses approximately 20 PTA groups each year. He is also the author of a monthly column for McCall's entitled "Pediatrician's Almanac," as well as an active participant in several amateur theater groups.
