This Christmas we are hoping to bring a little light into lives darkened by man s inhumanity to man. The Book of Light is a collection of writing by some of your favourite authors ranging from Harold Pinter to Julie Burchill and including some exciting new work - an unpublished short story from the author of Captain Cwelli s Mandolin, Louis de Bernieres, as well as previously unpublished writing from Brian Keenan, Seamus Deane, and Marina Warner. The profits from the sale of this book will help Medical Foundation doctors and caseworkers to relieve the suffering of survivors of torture and organised violence through free medical, psychological and practical support. It will also contribute to The Medical Foundation s efforts to document evidence of torture, to train other agencies and to educate the public about torture and its consequences. £1.(30 of the £1.99 price will be donated to The Medical Foundation for every copy sold of The Book of Light. This represents the entire profit after production and distribution costs.
