The psychotherapy journey is in some ways similar to the seventeenth century ventures of those who pulled loose from their European homes to risk the voyage across the Atlantic in search of new lives in America. They did not have any sure knowledge of how much they were leaving or what they would find. Many found the old ways of being intolerable,, and all hoped the new world would give them something better.
