Exercise and Sports Cardiology

This work reviews normal exercise physiology and provides an overview of exercise testing and the psychological adaptations that accompany chronic exercise training. It also addresses the idea of exercise being used as adjunctive therapy for such conditions as coronary artery disease. It can especially benefit physicians who are required to evaluate individuals for exercise/sport programmes as it provides a clear concept of the potential cardiac risks of exercise. The text also covers special clinical issues in athletes and discusses the use of exercise in preventing vascular disease.
