This case book is intended for use as a supplement for courses in abnormal psychology. Fifty-three cases illustrating the major diagnostic categories are organized according to the DSM III (American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,3rd Ed. ) classification of disorders. Over 40 professionals,including psychologists,psychiatrists,social workers,and psychiatric nurses,have contributed to the cases,providing students with first-hand observations of patients,while offering different points of view regarding the causes and treatment of psychological problems. Key psychiatric terms are italicized and included in a glossary at the end of the book.
