"La France: Une Tapisserie" is woven of the writings of some of the most famous French authors of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and presents a panorama of the diverse peoples, customs, ideas, and attitudes that have intertwined to make modern France. Included in this tapestry are examples of all literary genres. Short stories, excerpts from novels, plays, articles from newspapers and magazines, and poems offer an opportunity to read with understanding, to gain deeper insight into the nature and structure of the French language, and to begin an introductory study of serious literature and literary analysis.
