Reading and Writing Essays: The Imaginative Task

This rhetoric and reader explores variations in the writing process by focusing on 3 key types of essays: the exploratory, the analytical, and the argumentative. It identifies general principles of what constitutes good writing and thinking by examining essays by both students and professionals and through numerous reading and writing exercises and writing sequences. Special emphasis is also given to evidence: how to incorporate it, how to document it, and how to explore and argue using evidence. Additional essays are available at the end of the book.
