In Celebrations of Life, Rene Dubos presents ideas about human life and our relationshiip to the earth that he has spend a lifetime advancing. Using examples from microbes to mammals to Manhattan, from chemistry, Industrial polution, Cro Magnon Man, and his own life, Dr Dubos champions a frofoundly optimistic view of humankind as individuals, as societies, and as a species. His underlying themes are the tichness, comfort, and essential humanness of all societies and our unique gift of creative choice, a gift that can change life for good or ill. Trend is not destiny. Dr dubos asserts and in this he grounds his belief that this is not the best of times, but it is nevertheless a time for celebration.
